Dr. Cachecho chairs the Surgery Department at MetroWest Medical Center and practices General Surgery at our Framingham location on Lincoln Street. He specializes in a wide range of surgical issues, including complex abdominal hernia, inguinal hernia, gastrointestinal, breast, thyroid, and parathyroid surgery.
"My practice is patient oriented," says Dr. Cachecho. "My mission is to provide the patients with adequate information about their disease and to assist them in making an informed decision about their surgery. I keep flexible and open-door office hours so patients may be seen for urgent problems any time during the weekdays working hours."
For patients who require a multidisciplinary approach, such as patients with breast cancer, Dr. Cachecho contacts all the specialists necessary to care for the patient and assists the patient in getting timely appointments with an oncologist if chemotherapy is necessary. He also reaches out to the plastic surgeon if immediate breast reconstruction is required.
During the 30 years that Dr. Cachecho has been in practice, he has embraced the majority of advanced technologies in surgery. He is well equipped to perform open as well as minimally invasive abdominal surgery, depending on the patient's needs. As a surgical intensivist, Dr. Cachecho is able to assess patients' surgical and medical risks and present them with different options based on their general health.
As a result of his surgical accomplishments, Dr. Cachecho was honored as one of America's Top Surgeons in 2013 and has been named as a Top Doctor in the Western suburb of Philadelphia five times.
Before joining our practice and MetroWest Medical Center, he worked at many prestigious institutions including Boston Medical Center, Boston VA Medical Center and Boston City Hospital.
He is a member of numerous professional societies, including The New England Surgical Society, Boston Surgical Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and is a Fellow for the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Cachecho received his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine, then completed a residency in General Surgery, and a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Boston University Medical Center. He went on to receive his Executive MBA from Temple University, and most recently completed a Master Black belt Six Sigma course at Villanova.
